Sturgeon Falls hydroelectric plant is located in Michigan, United States on the Menominee River and is a run-of-river plant.
It consists of 2 camelback units, one unit has 4 runners (Unit 1) and the other unit has 2 runners (Unit 2).
The station was built in 1927, both turbine runners were first replaced in the mid 1960’s and again in 2012. Meeting major hydraulic issues, these new turbine runners got to be replaced in 2020 after 6 years of operation only.
The power station was enlarged with two additional Francis vertical turbines for a total capacity of 8.4 MW.
Scope of work
- Supply 2 new Francis turbine runner for a single Camel back turbine
- Supply 4 new Francis runners for a double Camel Back Turbine
- Perform Unit signature test (prior disassembly)
- Perform turbine site work disassembly
- Perform site assessment report after disassembly
- Correct embedded parts and adjust turbine shaft line
- Perform turbine site work assembly with new runner
- Perform unit start up (Commissioning)
